Stamped Schedule 1

ExpressTruckTax is the solution to E-File IRS Form 2290 and get your stamped Schedule 1 as simply and quickly as possible.

The Stamped Schedule 1 is required in order to register a vehicle. If you mail the Form 2290 to the IRS, it can take 4-6 weeks before it is processed.  If you choose to physically take to the IRS, the nearest office may be many miles away. There can also be very long waiting period at the IRS office of up to several hours.

E-Filing has become more and more popular among taxpayers and tax professionals. The IRS itself recommends E-Filing as their preferred method for filing Form 2290. Instead of waiting for hours or up to 6 weeks for the IRS to stamp your Schedule 1 and send it back to you, ExpressTruckTax will get your Stamped Schedule 1 within minutes of filing. When you login to the site, you can enter the information for the Form 2290, and ExpressTruckTax will transmit that information directly to the IRS electronically. Once the IRS accepts the return, they send the stamped Schedule 1 back to ExpressTruckTax, who will automatically email or fax the Schedule 1 to the taxpayer.

ExpressTruckTax sends the Stamped Schedule 1 to the taxpayer as a pdf attachment. Although the form will not be physically stamped, the official E-File watermark serves as an official IRS stamp.

E-File Form 2290 for Heavy Vehicles First Used in August 2013

Although the HVUT, or the Heavy Vehicle Use Tax is imposed annually, it is also mandatory for vehicles to file the IRS Form 2290 after the first use month. The typical tax year for heavy vehicles begins on July 1 and ends on June 30. For vehicles that are first used during the tax year, a prorated tax must be paid for the months that the vehicle was in use. This can be done with the IRS Form 2290 and the easiest way to file the 2290 is through ExpressTruckTax.com

When a new vehicle is placed in service, the Form 2290 must be filed by the last day of the following month. The tax will be prorated based on the number of months the vehicle will have been used during the tax year. If a vehicle was used during any part of a month, the tax will be calculated for that month as a whole. For example, if a vehicle was used on August 28th, it will be taxed as though it was used the entire month. So vehicles that were placed in service during the month of August will need to file HVUT using the 2290 by September 30, and the tax will be based on 11 months, instead of the full year.

All you will need is:

  • some basic business information,
  • EIN
  • VIN
  • Gross Weight of the Vehicle to complete the return.

Then you will transmit the return to the IRS and you will receive your Stamped Schedule 1 in just minutes!

IRS extended E-File Deadline for Form 2290

If you missed the Form 2290 deadline on Saturday, August 31, 2013, you are in luck because the IRS extended the E-Filing deadline until today, September 3, 2013 due to their planned maintenance over the Labor Day weekend.

That means you can still file on time as long as you E-File (the paper return deadline was NOT extended).  If you intended on paper filing but missed the deadline, you will need to E-File instead to avoid possible IRS penalties.

Simply go to  ExpressTruckTax.com and setup your account.  You will be prompted to enter your business details, including EIN, Vehicle Identification Number (VIN), and Gross Weight of the Vehicle (Combined with maximum load).  You will be able to choose your IRS payment option, either Electronic Funds Withdrawal (EFT), Electronic Federal Tax Payment System (EFTPS) or Check/Money Order.  Once the return is complete you will be prompted to transmit the return.

Normally you receive your Schedule 1 within minutes, but due to the IRS Maintenance, you will not receive your Schedule 1 until after the IRS resumes normal business activity after noon on today, September 3, 2013.
